Gyrocompass Overhaul & Service

The gyrocompass is the heart of the vessel's heading reference. We perform full overhaul, calibration and integration with autopilot and ECDIS.

Role of the gyrocompass

The gyrocompass provides true heading, independent of the Earth's magnetic field, feeding radar, ECDIS, AIS, autopilot and vessel control systems. Precision and stability of this reference are prerequisites for safe operation on any modern ship.

Frequently asked questions

How often is overhaul needed?

It depends on the manufacturer and operating hours, typically every 3 to 5 years. We recommend a preventive plan aligned with the manual and operation criticality.

Do you work in port or does the vessel need to dock?

Most services are done in port, with the vessel in operation. Specific cases may require bench work in our shop.

Do you work with Teledyne Reason?

Yes, we are certified and have field experience with the Teledyne Reason line, including gyros and associated motion sensors.
