Frequently asked questions
Does Starlink replace VSAT on a ship?
Not necessarily. Many operations use Starlink as primary link and keep VSAT/Inmarsat as redundancy and for mandatory safety services.
What about GMDSS Inmarsat-C?
GMDSS Inmarsat-C remains mandatory for distress and safety communications and is fully compatible with additional data links.
